Skoda Kushaq compact SUV: New TVC released

Skoda recently launched their first product Kushaq under India 2.0 strategy. The Kushaq is a mid size SUV that rivals with cars like Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the segment. Skoda has already started the delivery of this compact SUV and the prices start at Rs 10.50 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 17.60 lakh, ex-showroom. Kushaq is based on VISION IN Concept that Skoda showcased last year at the expo. Skoda has now released a new TVC for the Kushaq showing all the features that it has to offer.

The video has been shared by Skoda India on their official YouTube channel. The video starts with the exterior and then moves inside. Skoda Kushaq is based on MQB A0 IN platform which is specifically designed for Indian conditions. It has a design which is inspired from Skoda Karoq and Kodiaq SUV. Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with chrome outlines, sleek looking LED headlamps with LED DRLs and fog lamps positioned right below it. From the front, it is unmistakably a Skoda.

Coming to the side profile, there are thick cladding all around the car, a Skoda badge on the fender is seen and 17 inch Atlas alloy wheels are also offered. Skoda offers a functional roof rail with Kushaq and as we move towards the rear, there is a roof mounted spoiler and shark fin antenna as well. The SUV looks muscular from the rear as well. There are split LED tail lamps and Skoda Kushaq branding on the boot. A faux silver coloured skid plate is also seen at the rear.

Skoda is offering decent amount of features with the Kushaq. It comes with a touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, automatic climate control that can be controlled using touch panels on the center console, The seats get dual tone leather upholstery, ventilated seats at the front, wireless phone charging, Skoda’s own 6-speaker system, upto 6 airbags, 2-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, paddle shifters and so on.

Another feature that Skoda offers with the Kushaq is ACT of Active Cylinder Technology. This feature shuts down two of four cylinders when too much pressure is not put on engine. This feature helps in improving the overall fuel efficiency of the car. Skoda Kushaq is offered with two petrol engines. There is a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The smaller 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a manual and a torque converter automatic transmission option. The bigger 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox option.

Currently, Skoda offers Kushaq with analog instrument cluster. Skoda might introduce a Monte Carlo edition of Kushaq in future which would offer fully digital instrument cluster or what Skoda likes to call it a Virtual Cockpit and many more features. Next product to come out under India 2.0 strategy is the Volkswagen Taigun SUV which is again a mid size SUV based on the same platform. The SUV will be officially launched in the market later this month.
