Skoda Kushaq compact SUV’s interior sketches officially revealed

Skoda Auto India is working on launching the first vehicle under their India 2.0 Plan. They will be launching the new mid-size SUV, Kushaq on March 18th. While the exterior of the new SUV has been spied numerous times wearing camouflage, the interior of the SUV was never revealed even in the spy shots. Skoda also released official exterior sketches of the Kushaq in which we got an idea of how the SUV might look like. However, now Skoda India has released the interior sketches of their brand-new mid-size SUV.

The new sketches give us a first glance at the SUV’s interior. The first thing that you would notice is the new two-spoke steering wheel. This is the same steering wheel that we first saw on the new generation of Skoda Octavia. The steering wheel also houses different buttons for different functions. Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument cluster that will be configurable according to the driver needs.

The side air vents are vertically placed, whereas the middle air vents are placed below the infotainment system which is a touch screen unit and the vents are horizontal. All the AC vents get a chrome surround. The touchscreen infotainment system will come with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and connected car technology called MyŠKODA Connect. Below the middle AC vents, there is automatic climate control. However, the lower variants will get manual air conditioning with a heater.

Then there is a 12V charging socket placed on the centre console just ahead of the gear lever. From the sketches, we know that the Kushaq will come with a manual parking brake. There are cubby spaces for your knick-knacks and cupholders just ahead of the centre armrest. We can also see the Orange accents all over the cabin this means that Skoda will be offering body-coloured elements in the cabin also. The accents start from the doors and continue on the dashboard and the centre console. There are bottle holders placed in the doors to increase the practicality.

The SUV will come with features like automatic headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, Hill-hold control and much more. For safety equipment, Skoda will be offering dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Electronic Stability Control as standard. Moreover, you would be able to get 6 airbags as an option.

Skoda has confirmed that the Kushaq will be offered with 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines only. There will be no diesel on offer. The 1.0-litre will produce 110 PS of max power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.  The 1.5-litre will produce 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm. It will be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI engine will be offered with the higher variants only.

Skoda Kushaq will be based on the MQB AO IN platform which is specifically made for India to increase the level of localisation. There will be many more vehicles from Volkswagen and Skoda that will be using the same platform in the future. The  MQB AO IN platform is derived from the  MQB AO platform that is used on various vehicles that are sold in the international market.
