Skoda Auto India has launched a new edition of their popular compact SUV, the Kushaq, in the market. The Czech car brand has introduced the Matte Edition of the Kushaq SUV. The SUV was launched in 2021 as the first product under the brand’s new strategy. It is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which was specifically designed for Indian conditions. The Kushaq SUV is also one of the safest cars in the country, with a 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP crash test. As the name suggests, the Kushaq SUV Matte Edition is available in a Carbon Steel shade with a matte finish. The price for this new matte edition Kushaq starts at Rs 16.19 lakh, ex-showroom, which is Rs 40,000 more expensive than the regular version.
Petr Šolc, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, spoke at the launch and said, “The Kushaq will soon be completing 2 successful years in the market. We have constantly been making updates and adding value to the car based on customer feedback. The Matte Edition is the latest endeavor where we offer an enhanced, matte aesthetic for discerning customers, along with distinct styling enhancements. We look forward to welcoming more customers into the Škoda family with the Kushaq Matte Edition and further building our SUV expertise with superior driving dynamics and standard safety features.”
The body of the SUV is finished in a matte carbon steel shade, while the ORVMs, door handles, and rear spoiler have a gloss black shade. Some chrome elements such as the tailgate garnish, front grille, and lower window chrome line have been retained in this edition. The Matte Edition is available with both the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI variants of the Kushaq. Similar to the Monte Carlo edition of the Kushaq, there is a 1.5 TSI badge on the tailgate to differentiate it from the 1.0-liter version.
The newly launched matte edition of the Skoda Kushaq is positioned between the top-end Style and Monte Carlo variants of the SUV. It features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it comes with Skoda’s sound system, including 6 high-performance speakers and a subwoofer. The SUV is available with two petrol-engine options. The matte edition is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Apart from these cosmetic changes, everything else on the Skoda Kushaq remains the same as before. It offers the same features as the higher variants.
The price for the 1.0 TSI version with manual transmission is Rs 16.19 lakh, ex-showroom, while the automatic version is priced at Rs 17.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The 1.5 TSI variant of the Kushaq is priced at Rs 18.19 lakh for the manual and Rs 19.39 lakh for the 7-speed DSG variant. The Skoda Kushaq 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine generates 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol version of the Kushaq generates 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque.
