Skoda launches Kodiaq Facelift for Rs. 34.99 lakhs ex-showroom

Skoda Auto has launched its flagship SUV in India. It is the Kodiaq that has again been launched in India but this time it is the facelifted version. Skoda has introduced three variants of the Kodiaq and there is only a single petrol engine on offer. The prices now start at Rs. 34.99 lakhs ex-showroom and the bookings have already started.

The variants on sale are Style, Sportline and Laurin & Klement. This time there is no Scout variant on offer. The base Style variant cost Rs. 34.99 lakhs, Sportline costs and Rs. 35.99 lakhs and the top-end Laurin & Klement is priced at Rs. 37.49 lakhs ex-showroom. All the prices are ex-showroom.

Now, there is only a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine on offer. It produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Skoda is now offering all-wheel drive as standard across all the variants. There are 5 drive modes on offer, Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow and Individual.

The fuel efficiency of Kodiaq is rated at 12.78 kmpl. There is no longer the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine on offer. It used to produce 150 PS of max power and 340 Nm of peak torque.

Skoda Kodiaq will be going against the recently launched Volkswagen Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and the upcoming Jeep Meridian(7-seater version of Compass).

The SUV measures 4,699 mm in length, has a width of 1,882 mm and a height of 1,665 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Kodiaq is a 7-seater SUV that has a boot space of 270-litres when all the seats are up. The boot space is increased to 2,005-litres when the rear seats are folded. Kodiaq is quite heavy, it tips the scale at 2.4 tonnes.

Skoda has updated the looks of the Kodiaq. It now looks sleeker, thanks to the redesigned front bumper and new LED headlamps. There are new tweaked LED tail lamps and a revised rear bumper.

The interior has stayed mostly the same but now it comes with a new two-spoke steering wheel. The interior is finished in beige colour but the Sportline gets a black cabin theme with a three-spoke steering wheel.

The 2022 Kodiaq now comes with Dynamic Chassis Control. This feature can adjust the stiffness of the dampers based on the driving mode that the SUV is in. The front seats now get a heated and cooling function, there is a wireless charger for the mobile devices, the new touchscreen infotainment system comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, the infotainment system now is connected to a Canton speaker system that has 12 speakers.
