Upcoming Skoda Octavia starts arriving at the dealerships before official launch

Skoda will soon officially launch the Octavia in the Indian market. The fourth-generation Octavia will be launched in the Indian market by the end of this month and the production has already started. Skoda has also started dispatching the new models to the dealerships ahead of the launch and the test drives are expected to begin soon.

New pictures online show the Octavia parked at the dealership yard before the official launch. This is an all-new fourth-generation model that is based on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform. The new Skoda Octavia is longer than the previous version of the car. However, the wheelbase of 2,686mm measures the same. The new Octavia is 19mm longer than the previous version.

Skoda’s signature butterfly grille and C-motif tail lamps with crystal-like detailing make the all-new Octavia look quite interesting. The grille is wider than before and is also positioned lower, which adds a sporty look to the vehicle. There are conventional single-piece LED headlamps. The side profile looks very similar to the last-generation model that was available in the Indian market. However, Skoda has updated the alloy wheels and they now look like turbines.

The rear of the all-new Octavia gets split tail lamps and an angular tailgate. The striking design of the rear makes the Octavia look very inspired by the Skoda Superb.

Even the cabin of the all-new Skoda Superb gets a new layout and fresh design. There is now a larger infotainment system and there are no knobs on the central console. It is now a clean design. All the functions like climate control can be accessed through the infotainment system. The Octavia also gets a dual-zone climate control system, cruise control system, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and electrically adjustable front seats.

More powerful

The new Octavia will not be offered with the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that used to produce 143 bhp. Instead, it will now be offered only with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol that produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 7-speed DSG Dual-Clutch automatic gearbox. It is the same engine that the upcoming facelifted version of Kodiaq will be using.

The all-new Skoda Octavia will take on the likes of Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market. It will be priced at around Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom.
