Skoda is working on a brand new India 2.0 program, where it will develop a new MQB A0 (A-Zero) platform for new  budget cars to be launched from 2020. The MQB A0 platform will also underpin budget cars from Volkswagen. As for  Skoda, the platform will host a new compact SUV that will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in 2020, and a C-Segment sedan that will replace the Rapid sometime in 2021.

The MQB A0 platform will have heavy localization, and this is expected to make spare parts of the new mass market  cars from Skoda much cheaper than is the case currently. Also, the new platform will allow Skoda to come up with more affordable cars for the Indian market without compromising on the traditional strengths of Skoda cars – strong build quality and great driving experience.
