Skoda Rapid, Superb & Kodiaq get HEFTY price cuts: Very attractive!

Skoda India will shift to an all-petrol engine line up from 1st April 2020, when India shifts to Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms. What this means is, the Czech automaker just has about 4 months to liquidate the current stock of diesel engined cars. You, the car buyer, stand to benefit from this fire sale of sorts, through massive discounting. Skoda India is now offering discount of upto Rs. 3.5 lakh on the Rapid C-Segment sedan, the Superb luxury saloon and the Kodiaq 7 seat luxury SUV.

The Skoda Rapid Diesel – in both manual and automatic trims – is selling at discounts of Rs. 1.58 lakhs and Rs. 1.56 lakhs respectively. The Rapid Diesel also gets a 5 year warranty and a 4 year service package at a discounted price of Rs. 33,333. All in all, the Skoda Rapid Diesel Manual and Automatic trims are great buys at the lower prices. Here are variant wise, ex-showroom prices for the Skoda Rapid Diesel: Active – Rs. 8,99,599, Ambition MT – Rs. 9,99,599, Style MT – Rs. 11,15,599, Ambition AT – Rs. 11,35,599 and Style AT – Rs. 12,43,599.

The new prices make the Skoda Rapid a lot cheaper than its prime competitors: the Honda City, the Maruti Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna. Those looking for a solidly built sedan with great handling, and a brilliant diesel engine-automatic gearbox combination may serious consider the Rapid. Notably, even Volkswagen is offering hefty discounts on the Vento sedan, which is a car that the Rapid is badge-engineered on. The Rapid’s 1.5 liter diesel engine is a 4 cylinder unit with 105 Bhp-250 Nm. Gearbox options with this car include a 5 speed manual and a 7 speed twin clutch automatic.

Coming to the Skoda Superb luxury saloon, the car has just received a price cut of Rs. 3.5 lakhs. Both petrol and diesel versions of the Superb benefit from the lowered prices. The Style AT petrol and Style AT diesel variants see a price reduction of Rs. 1.8 lakh, and now are priced at Rs. 26.00 lakh and Rs. 28.50 lakh respectively. The L&K AT diesel gets a price cut of Rs. 3.5 lakh, and now starts from Rs. 30.00 lakhs. The Superb Petrol uses a 1.8 liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 177 Bhp-320 Nm, and a 6 speed speed twin clutch automatic gearbox. The Superb Diesel is powered by a 2 liter turbocharged diesel motor with 174 Bhp-350 Nm outputs, and a 6 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox.

The Skoda Kodiaq luxury SUV, one of the automaker’s top-sellers in the luxury car space, gets a price reduction of Rs. 2.37 lakhs. Prices for the Style AT Diesel variant have been reduced from Rs. 35.37 lakh to Rs. 33.00 lakh. The Kodiaq Style AT Diesel SUV is powered by a 2 liter turbo diesel engine making 148 Bhp-340 Nm. The gearbox is a 7 speed twin clutch automatic while an all wheel drive layout is standard.
