Skoda Rapid variants and prices across five major cities

Skoda recently launched the Rapid sedan at a starting price of Rs. 6.75 lakh. The Rapid is priced Rs. 25,000 lower than its sibling the Vento across all variants. The Rapid’s launch also marks the re-entry of the Czech brand in the popular C segment after the company stopped selling the popular Octavia sedan a few years ago. Let’s take a look at what are the variants and their corresponding features offered in the Skoda Rapid.

The Skoda Rapid shares its engine and underpinnings with the Volkswagen Vento. The 1.6 litre petrol engine of the Rapid makes 104 bhp of maximum power and 153 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional 6 speed transmission.

The claimed mileage for the Rapid petrol is 15.04 kmpl. The 1.6 litre diesel engine of the Vento produces 104 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The claimed mileage for the Rapid diesel is 20 kmpl.

The Skoda Rapid’s design is blend of the Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Laura. The front grille, headlamps and the large fog lamps look similar to the Fabia. The side profiles are similar to the Vento while at the rear the tail lamp cluster resembles the Laura. On the inside, the Rapid and the Vento share all the features except for the four-spoke Skoda steering wheel and the audio system with SD card slot.

Variant 1: Rapid Active 1.6 MPI MT (Rs. 6.75 lakh) & Active 1.6 TDI CR (Rs. 7.95 lakh)

The Active variant doesn’t get airbags, ABS, multi function display, automatic AC and music system. The following are the features available in the Rapid.

Rapid 1.6 MPI MT Ambition (Rs. 7.09 lakh), 1.6 MPI AT Ambition (Rs. 8.09 lakh) & 1.6 TDI CR Ambition (Rs.8.29 lakh)

The Ambition variant gets all the features of the Active variant and in addition gets fog lamps, ABS with brake assist, driver airbag and remote control locking.

Rapid 1.6 MPI MT Elegance (Rs. 7.99 lakh), 1.6 MPT AT Elegance (Rs. 8.99 lakh) & 1.6 TDI CR Elegance (Rs.9.19 lakh)

The Elegance variant gets all the features of the Ambition variant and in addition gets alloy wheels, front passenger airbag, music system, electrically adjustable external mirrors and multifunction display.
