Skoda has just revealed their latest product, Slavia. It is a new mid-size sedan that sits below the Octavia. Slavia will compete against the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. The new sedan replaces the Skoda Rapid in the line-up but it will be positioned higher than the Rapid and will also cost more. This is because it is a larger and more premium sedan than the Rapid. The pre-bookings of Slavia have been opened and delivery will start in the first quarter of 2022. Skoda has also released a new TVC for the Slavia.
The video has been uploaded on YouTube and it is a short one. We can see Slavia in different colours and the advertisement says “Beauty that is just not skin deep”. Skoda will be offering the Slavia with 5 colour options. There will be Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Tornado Red and Crystal Blue. The Crystal Blue paint shade has been specifically made for the Slavia.

Dimensions
The Slavia measures 4,541 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width, 1,487 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. So, we expect it to have an ample amount of cabin space. The Slavia is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform which is also shared with Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus. The wheelbase of all these three vehicles will be 2,651 mm because of the platform sharing. Slavia has a boot space of 521 litres which is the largest in the segment. It gets a traditional boot instead of a notchback. The ground clearance of Slavia is not yet known.
Variants
Skoda will be launching the Slavia in three variants. There will be Active, Ambition and Style. According to the rumours, Skoda might release a new Monte Carlo variant in the future which will be the new top-end variant.
Engine and gearbox
Skoda will offer the Slavia with two petrol engine options. There will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI petrol engine. Both the engines and the gearboxes are shared with the Kukshaq and the Taigun.
The 1.0 TSI produces 115 PS of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard with all three variants. You can get a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the Ambition and Style variants.
The 1.5 TSI produces 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. This makes Slavia, the most powerful sedan in the segment. This engine comes with Active Cylinder Technology so it can shut down two of its cylinders under low load. This will help in increasing fuel efficiency. This engine will be offered only with the top-spec Style variant.
Design
The sedan comes with LED projector headlamps with L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. There are also C-shaped split LED tail lamps with a crystalline effect. There are strong contours throughout the bodywork. Slavia does look like a smaller version of the Octavia. There are 16-inch alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish.
