Skoda Slavia premium sedan’s Exterior Sketches Officially Revealed

Skoda is working on a new premium sedan for the Indian market. It is called “Slavia” and will be revealed before the end of this year. Zac Hollis, Director, Sales and Marketing – SKODA India has confirmed that the new sedan will be launching in February or March next year. Skoda has now released the exterior sketches of the Slavia.
From the pictures, we can see that it looks quite different from what we all have been expecting it to look like. Up-front there are sleek LED headlamps with a projector setup. The LED Daytime Running Lamp is expected to be in the shape of an “L”. There is a huge butterfly grille and a Skoda badge. The fog lamp housing gets a C surround and forms a slim air dam in the bumper.
At the side, there are newly designed 5-spoke alloy wheels. There is also a Skoda badging on the front fender. Interestingly, the door handles are not visible in the sketches, but we do know that Slavia will come with conventional door handles on the front as well as the rear door. The LED turn indicator is also placed on the outside rearview mirror.

It is important to note that Slavia will not be a notchback, it will get a traditional boot. This has been because notchback would have increased the production cost which would have increased the price of the sedan. The taillamps will use LEDs and it will be a split tail lamp setup.
Interior
From the spy shots, we know that Slavia will come with a two-spoke steering wheel that we have seen on the Kushaq and the Octavia. It will come with the new generation of Skoda’s touchscreen infotainment system that we have seen on the recent vehicles from Skoda. It does come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The AC vents will be placed below the infotainment system. Also, Slavia will come with a black and beige interior theme. It will come with features like keyless entry, push-button to start/stop button, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, multi-information display, a front and rear armrest and much more. Slavia will also come with a digital instrument cluster and 6 airbags which Kushaq missed out on at first.
Engine and gearbox
The engine and gearbox options will be the same as the Kushaq. So, there will be a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI on offer. The 1.0 TSI produces 115 PS of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The majority of people will be opting for this engine.
Then there will be the 1.5 TSI which will be preferred by the enthusiasts. The engine produces 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This engine will also come with Active Cylinder Technology which disables two cylinders of the engine while coasting to save fuel.
