The Czech automobile manufacturer Škoda Auto reported that the month of March 2022 was the best month in terms of sales for the brand in its history of two decades in India. The automaker revealed that it has received over 10,000 bookings for its newest offering – the compact sedan Slavia.
More sedans including a Honda City hybrid that offers exceptional fuel economy and a facelifted Verna are also getting ready. The Slavia’s sibling, the Volkswagen Virtus has also been revealed and pre-bookings are open already.
Skoda launched the Slavia a month ago in India and the company has reported that they have received a terrific response from the buyers in the country. The Slavia with its impressive sales figures is also on its way to taking over the segment leaders like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Zac Hollis, brand director, Skoda Auto, commenting on the achievement of this massive milestone said, “the demand for Slavia has already exceeded our expectations. We are booked for the next three months of production. We are confident that 2022 will be the biggest ever year for us in India,” Hollis also added, “We are fully geared to take the brand to new heights, as India becomes a key market for Skoda globally.”
Additionally, Hollis on Skoda’s best-ever month of the brand in India said, “The concerted efforts of the entire team to ensure the successful roll-out of the INDIA 2.0 project are bearing fruit. This project is not only about new platforms and products, but an entire rejuvenation of our business processes enhancing the ownership experience, widening the reach of our network, getting loser to our customers and a variety of value-added services,”
The Skoda Slavia is one of the best looking compact sedans on the market and it features a beautiful sloping roof design. It also comes equipped with Crystalline LED projector headlights, LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels for the top-end variant, all-LED tail lamps, and the Skoda signature butterfly grille. The Slavia is also the segment’s widest, longest, and tallest automobile, which translates to more interior space for passengers. It also has the maximum ground clearance in the segment at 179 mm.
A floating type touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, and two-spoke steering wheel with multi-function buttons are among the car’s features. ventilated seats, automated temperature control, an electric sunroof, and dual-tone leather upholstery are just a few of the features available.
The list of safety features that the Skoda Slavia comes equipped with includes six airbags, hill hold assist, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, brake disc wiping, motor slip regulation, multi-collision braking, ABS with EBD and traction control. It also comes with an electronic differential locking system, a segment-first feature.
Skoda introduced the Slavia in February 2022 in India as a petrol-only sedan with two turbocharged petrol engine choices. The first is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine that boasts 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, while the second option available is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine that claims 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. The Slavia comes with a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.0-litre TSI and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for the 1.5-litre TSI, in addition to the regular 6-speed manual gearbox for both engines. Skoda Slavia has been priced from Rs 10.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.79 lakh. It is presented in three variants of Active, Ambition, and Style.
