Skoda is betting big on its next offering for the Indian car market, the Slavia sedan. The Skoda Slavia made its grand global debut in India in November 2021 and has been confirmed for an official launch towards the end of Q1 2022. While there have been many instances where the Skoda Slavia was spied doing test runs on open roads, we have come across a video where the sedan is seen being driven openly on the public roads.
In a YouTube video uploaded by a channel named “Car Blogger”, we can see a convoy of three units of Skoda Slavia being driven on a busy road. The cars seen here were in subtler looking paint schemes of Brilliant Silver and Candy White, which are expected to be the highest selling colour options for the new sedan.
Skoda Slavia looks sharp
Speaking about the first impressions of the road presence of Skoda Slavia while in motion, we have to admit that the car looks elegant in the outer environment. Even in the light colour options, the sharp creases on the side profile and angular headlamps and tail lamps make the Slavia look sleek and contemporary. The models seen here in this video are expected to be the top-spec variant, which will come loaded with all the modern features one expects from a car of this class.
The Skoda Slavia is coming to the Indian car market as a replacement for the Rapid, which had a moderately successful decade-long run in India. The model will arrive as Skoda’s most affordable model in its modern-day lineup for India. Like all the other new-generation models from Skoda, it will come as a petrol-only model.
The Skoda Slavia will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which makes 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Apart from the 6-speed manual gearbox, which is standard for both the engine options, while the 1.0-litre engine will be available with a 6-speed torque converter, the 1.5-litre engine will also be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Slavia will be feature-rich
In its top-spec form, the new Skoda Slavia will get features like LED headlamps and tail lamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, leather upholstery, full-TFT instrument console, automatic climate control, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, push start-stop button, rear AC vents and more. The Slavia is coming in as a direct alternative to cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
