Skoda Auto India has officially launched the Superb Ambition base variant priced at Rs. 18 lakh for the petrol version and Rs. 22.07 lakh for the diesel version.
CarToq had recently reported about the imminent launch of Ambition variant. Mechanically, there are no changes in the Ambition variant. The Ambition petrol version is powered by 1.8-litre TSI puts out 160 bhp of power and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the Ambition diesel version is powered by a 2-litre TDI motor that puts out 140 bhp of power and is mated to 6-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox).
The Ambition is a stripped down variant and does not come with features such as bi-xenon headlights, Adaptive Front light system (AFS), retractable headlight washers, engine start/stop button, touch screen infotainment and electric sunroof.
The Ambition also lacks features such as ESP (Electronic Stability Program), steering mounted audio controls, hill hold control, ESP and Tyre Pressure Monitoring system. The following are the features offered on the Ambition variant.

The Superb Ambition petrol manual variant priced at Rs. 18 lakh is Rs. 52,000 cheaper than the recently launched Hyundai Sonata petrol manual variant (Rs. 18.52 lakh) and Rs. 1.28 lakh cheaper than the Honda Accord 2.4 petrol manual variant (Rs. 20.28 lakh). The Superb Ambition diesel automatic variant priced at Rs. 22.07 lakh is Rs. 3.21 lakh cheaper than the Passat diesel Comfortline (Rs. 25.28 lakh).
The Superb is the most popular car in its segment and sells more than its rivals such as the Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat. The introduction of Ambition base variant is sure to attract more buyers towards the Superb.
