Skoda to increase prices of all cars by 1%-1.8% in August

Skoda Auto India is increasing prices across its entire range of products in India by 1%-1.8 %. The increased price will come be effective August 2012 onwards. This means that a car like the Fabia will be more expensive by about Rs. 4,800 on the base variant to Rs. 8,000 for the top-end variant, while a Superb will see a steeper price hike of about Rs. 36,000 or so.

The increase price in prices is being attributed to the rising cost of inputs and volatile exchange rates. Skoda offers, the Fabia, Rapid, Laura, Superb and Yeti models in its Indian portfolio. Skoda cars were always priced slightly lower than their Volkswagen siblings. Now that prices of Skoda cars has increased Volkswagen too may increase prices in the future to maintain the price differential.

If you are planning to buy a Skoda car, now would be a good time to buy the car, as the prices will be hiked from next week. CarToq had recently reported that Skoda dealers are offering a cash discount of Rs. 2.2 lakh on the top of the line Yeti Elegance 4×4.

It is available at roughly Rs. 17 lakh on-road Delhi, which translates to an ex-showroom price of Rs.15.3 lakh only! Apart from the cash discount you also get small knick-knacks like rubber mats, mud flaps, polish and a car cover. This is a clearance sale for Yeti models that were manufactured in 2011 but assembled in 2012.
