Skoda Rapid TSI turbo petrol automatic: Bookings and delivery details revealed

Skoda Auto India has just opened bookings for the automatic variant of the recently launched Skoda Rapid turbo petrol sedan. The booking amount is pegged at Rs. 25,000 and deliveries will commence from the 18th of September 2020. To book one, you can either walk into your nearest Skoda dealership or go online at BuySkodaOnline, and make your booking.   Currently, the car is sold with a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard. The automatic gearbox will also be a 6 speed unit, running on a torque converter. The automatic gearbox option will make the Skoda Rapid TSI a more appealing to a wide range of buyers.

Both transmission options will use the same engine: a new 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that makes 110 PS of peak power and 175 Nm of peak torque. This engine powers a range of Volkswagen group cars including the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan. This engine will also be offered on the upcoming Skoda compact SUV, and even on the Volkswagen compact SUV. The engine is known for being quite peppy and rev happy. It suits the Skoda Rapid’s sporty character, and is a big step up from the outgoing 1.6 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that put out 105 PS-153 Nm.

The facelifted Skoda Rapid, which was introduced earlier this year, sit in the C-Segment sedan space, and rivals the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna. Well built and involving to drive, the Skoda Rapid has a timeless, understated design. Prices of the Rapid begin from Rs. 7.49 lakh, making it the most affordable C-Segment sedans sold in India.
