Buying a car in India is still a big deal. A lot of family discussion is involved when a person is buying a vehicle. So, it is a big thing when a son decides to gift a new car to his dad. Here, we have a video in which a son gifts his dad a brand-new Skoda Kushaq.
The video is uploaded on YouTube by THE FOTOWALLA. The video starts with the family arriving at a Skoda dealership in a white Grand i10. Then the paperwork is completed by the son. The family then uncovers their new Kushaq and cuts a cake. The father then hugs his son and it is quite an emotional moment for them.
Then the son explains that it has been his dream to buy a car for his father and mother. At first, he was struggling to book a car and get it delivered. Finally, he booked the Kushaq and waited for the delivery. Then we see a couple of shots of the Kushaq and then the father drives off the Kushaq with his family. It is the Active variant of the Kushaq which is the most affordable trim in the line-up.
Despite being the lower-spec variant, the Active variant comes with a lot of equipment. For safety, there are dual airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Distribution, Electronic Differential Lock System, Traction Control, Brake Disc Wiping, rear parking sensors and Roll Over Protection.
Features include a remote control with foldable key, manual air conditioning, front armrest with storage, fabric seats, two-spoke steering wheel with chrome scrollers, height and length adjustable steering wheel column and rear AC vents. There are also roof rails with 50 kg load capacity, rear spoiler, fabric on door armrests, all power windows, LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED tail lamps, anti-glare wing mirrors and a 12V charging socket. Moreover, you also get a 7-inch infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes connected to 6 speakers. The driver also gets a multi-function steering wheel, a basic multi-information display and a dead pedal.
Engine and gearbox
The Active variant is only offered with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 115 PS of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The higher variants are also offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

There is also a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine available only with the top-end variant. It produces 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Skoda does not offer a diesel engine with the Kushaq.
Prices and variants
The prices of the Skoda Kushaq start at Rs. 10.49 lakhs ex-showroom and go up to Rs. 17.59 lakhs ex-showroom. Skoda offers the Kushaq in three variants. There is Active, Ambition and Style.
Rivals
The Kushaq competes against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster.
