The Dominar 400 is the flagship motorcycle in Bajaj’s range and the company is currently hard at work on a facelifted version of the power cruiser. The Facebook page Phantom Rides recently spied a heavily camouflaged test mule of the facelifted Dominar 400 being tested in the city of Pune.
The facelifted 2019 Dominar 400 brings quite a few changes that help improve the rideability and safety of the upcoming Dominar 400 facelift compared to the current bike. The Dominar 400 is expected to arrive early next year and could cost up to Rs 15,000 more than it does today.
The facelifted Dominar 400 will be the first Bajaj bike to sport upside down forks which should really help improve the handling characteristics of a bike that Bajaj has dubbed a power cruiser. Also, the new Dominar 400 will come with dual-channel ABS as standard, which should help improve safety, especially under emergency braking. Braking will also be helped by the radially mounted brakes.
The Dominar 400 is also expected to feature better ground clearance due to a change in design that sees the addition of a new double barrel exhaust. Due to the new exhaust, the catalytic converter moves to the side of the rear wheel from its current position under the engine.
Other changes will help improve comfort levels for those riding the Dominar 400. The flagship Bajaj bike will feature a taller handlebar and a longer seat for the pillion rider.
The engine on the Dominar 400 is expected to be updated to meet new BS-VI emission norms that come into effect in 2020. While the Dominar 400 is expected to retain its current 373 cc engine from the 390 Duke which currently produces 34.5 Bhp and 35 Nm of torque. However, there are reports that Bajaj could switch to the same DOHC unit found on the Duke and come with ride-by-wire as well. The bike is also expected to feature a larger radiator to help cool down the engine faster in the stop-go traffic conditions found in most Indian cities today. The digital instrument cluster will be updated and will offer more data to the rider on the go.
The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is also expected to be sold in new colour options as well.
