Spy photos of the new Alto 800 have surfaced on the Internet. The fresh pictures reveal interesting design changes in the new Alto that may help it in the battle against its modern rival, the Hyundai Eon.
All new look
The front has a hexagonal grille, upswept headlamps and a clamshell bonnet that gives the new Alto, a modern and sleek design. The new Alto seems to have 13” wheels and that essentially means a higher ground clearance than the current model. Overall, the front design mildly resembles the Ford Figo and is a welcome change. You can book the new Alto 800 now.

Side profile
The side profile of the new Alto looks like it has been design-inspired from the A-Star model. The reclined shoulder line and shapes of the windows remind the A-Star. Crease lines running through the car’s length breaks the otherwise monotonous design. It is obvious that the new Alto’s height has been increased to offer more headroom especially for rear seat passengers. Also read: What is exciting about the top 5 upcoming launches?

Rear design
The rear of the new Alto gets a newly designed windshield, tail-lamp cluster that resembles those of the old Swift and a neatly pressed bumper with integrated number plate area. The badges at the rear indicate that the test mule was the LXI model and powered by a 800 cc engine as you can notice the ‘800’ badge below Alto badge.

Interiors
Though there are no clear spy photos of the upcoming Alto’s interiors, we expect a completely new dashboard, steering wheel and gear shifter to give an upmarket feel like the Eon. The front seats of the test car had integrated headrests.
Expected performance
The new Alto will be powered by the same 796 cc, F8D engine (BS IV compliant) that makes 46 Bhp of maximum power and returns a claimed mileage of 19.73 Kmpl. But it is yet to be known if Maruti Suzuki plans to tweak the engine in the interest of fuel economy. Related: 5 new small cars in the next 5 months!
