Stock Mahindra Thar gets stuck in mud: Modified Thar recovers the SUV [Video]

Mahindra Thar is currently one of the most afforable 4×4 SUVs one can buy in country. Ever since the launch of current generation Mahindra Thar, it has become a common sight in off-roading communties in India. What makes Mahindra Thar a popular SUV among buyers is its looks, price and its off-road capabilities even in stock form. Like many other 4×4 SUVs in the market, the capabilities of a stock 4×4 SUVs are limited when compared to a heavily modified one. Here we have a video that proves just that. A completely stock Mahindra Thar gets stuck while off-roading and the SUV was recovered using a heavily modified one.

The video has been uploaded by Thisisgabru on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger and his group go out for off-roading. It is an SUV group that mostly consists of Mahindra Thar SUVs. There is one Thar 700 and rest of them are all current generation SUVs. All them drive from their meeting point to a river bed where they usually do off-roading. The track was already explored before and they soon started driving through the sand. The Mahindra Thar 700 and the Thar driven by the vlogger were modified for off-roading and they were the first to drive on the wet sandy surface.

Once they confirmed that, it was safe for other car, rest of them followed. After they drove over the sandy part, they went ahead to another spot where there was track with slush. As mentioned above, it is a riverbed and the surface is wet in many places. Once agian, Mahindra Thar 700 went first. It drove through the sad without any issue. There is a small dip towards the end but, due to RT tyres on the SUV, the Thar did not get stuck. Vlogger drove the SUV next. The SUV smoothly went through the sand as it had ample ground clearance and was also riding on massive off-road tyres.

The modified Mahindra Thar did not struggle at all on the track. Next was the turn of a soft top convertible Mahindra Thar in stock form. The driver was following the track which was created by the first two vehicles. Vlogger can be heard asking the driver to carry momentum to clear the dip at the end. The driver could not gain enough speed to cross the dip and ended up getting stuck in sand. The driver tried engaging 4L to crawl out but, the sand was too slippery and could not come out on its own.

After several unsuccessful trials, vlogger brought his modified Mahindra Thar and winched the stuck SUV out. The front wheel was completely stuck in sand. After recovering, the stock Mahindra Thar driver drove the SUV through the same stretch several times but, he took a different track to ensure that he does not get stuck again. The group was travelling prepared as they had backup vehicles with them. If they did not have a winch or a tow strap, getting the SUV out of the mud would have been a task.
