The video has been shared by NDTV on their Instagram page. The video was recorded by a CCTV camera installed facing the road. According to reports surfacing online, the accident happened on Dammas Road in Surat’s Pipald area. The report mentions that the accident occurred due to a strong dust storm in the area on May 13th.

In the video, we see a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan coming towards the camera. The car seen in the video is brand new, and as it comes closer to the camera, the driver loses control and rams into the roadside railing. The driver probably panicked after the crash, which made her accelerate the car to escape from the situation. This made things even worse.

The car actually crashed into the railing of the BRTS corridor. The car got stuck in the railing and stopped. We have another video posted by a social media user where the damage to the car is visible. The front end of the car is completely damaged and needs a lot of work. According to the report, the driver lost control due to the wind; however, that is not something we would like to believe.

Another reason for this accident mentioned in the report is low visibility. It is quite possible that the driver’s visibility was affected due to the dust storm, and she did not realize how close she was driving to the railing. She might have only realized it after crashing into it. As soon as the car crashed, we see a couple of men run towards the car to help the occupants. The airbags in the C 220d sedan deployed, and the occupants escaped with almost no injuries.

After escaping from the vehicle, the woman who was driving can be seen standing next to the car. From the images, it looks like the headlamps, front grille, bumper, bonnet, and the fender on this new C-Class sedan need work. The all-new sedan seen here is worth Rs 58 lakh, ex-showroom. One should be extremely careful while driving through such conditions.

If you cannot see the road in front of you, it is always a good idea to stop driving. Park your car on the roadside and engage the hazard lamps. This would ensure that other people passing through the road can see your vehicle and won’t crash into it.
