Even though the popularity of the SUVs is rising in India and new models are being launched in the market every other month, there are only a few true SUVs that can be taken off the tarmac roads. Most of the SUVs sold in the market today are 4X2 vehicles that offer an intimidating look on the road as well as a high ground clearance with a comfortable ride but they sure cannot do rock climbing. There are a few good old capable SUVs that have been around for a long time and can take on most kinds of challenging surfaces. Here is a set of such SUVs that make climbing on the stairs look like a super easy job.

Force Gurkha

Force Gurkha is one of the most underrated SUVs in the Indian market. It has now been discontinued and will be launched in an all-new avatar very soon but even the older model of the SUV was extremely capable. The video is from 2013, and the Gurkha seen here came powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 85 Bhp and peak torque of 230 Nm. The Gurkha comes with low-ratio transfer case too.
