The scooter will be another addition to the 125cc scooter segment in India that is already quite crowded. Even Suzuki offers the Access 125 in the segment. However, the Burgman will attract a different crowd because of its bulgy body that gives it a maxi-scooter look. Interestingly, Suzuki offers a bigger capacity 650cc scooter under the Burgman name in many international markets, but the Indian market is yet to be mature enough for such high capacity products.

The bike is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 65,000 and will take on the likes of Aprilia SR125 in the market. The Burgman 125’s underpinnings are the same as the one we see in Access 125. It makes the product more suitable for the Indian market. Even many cycle parts are shared with the already available Access in the market. Even the engine is the same as the Access 125. The single-cylinder 124cc engine produces a maximum of 8.5 Bhp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

The distinctive styling is part of the Burgman’s USP. It gets an extra-long seat, LED headlamps and tail lamps and a fully digital instrument panel. The extra-wide body translates into extra space under the seat and it is best-in-class under seat storage space. There are a front telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension in the rear. It is expected to get a standard disc brake at the front and a drum brake set-up in the rear. It will also get the Combi-Brake System that will allow the rider to use the front brake lever to distribute force to the rear brakes too.
