Suzuki has revealed a new variant of the Ertiga in Indonesia. It gets quite a few cosmetic upgrades over the standard Ertiga. The cosmetic upgrades do look quite nice. There are no mechanical changes to the Ertiga. We do not expect the Sport FF trim of Ertiga will get launched in India.
Up-front we get a different bumper that looks sportier as it has a larger grille and an air dam. There is also a red accent where the skid plate is. There are L-shaped fog lamp surrounds which also double up as LED Daytime Running Lamps.
On the sides, there are side skirts with black and red accents. Moreover, there is also dual-tone alloy wheels. The MPV itself is finished in a dual-tone colour of black and white. The outside rearview mirrors, roof and rear spoiler is finished in black. There is also an all-black colour available for the MPV. At the rear, there is a slightly redesigned bumper with a faux diffuser and a red reflector connecting both the tail lamps.
The interior is finished in an-black theme for a sporty appeal. There is a wooden insert in the dashboard, on the steering wheel and in the doors. There is new upholstery with red stitching. The wood and the stitching add a premium touch to the cabin. You also get a rear parking camera integrated into the rearview mirrors. Ertiga still comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that Maruti Suzuki calls SmartPlay.
It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also keyless entry, push-button to start/stop the engine, automatic climate control, analogue instrument cluster with a multi-information display.
Mechanically, it comes with the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 104 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 138 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Toyota has launched its version of the Ertiga in South Africa. They are calling it Rumion. Toyota has changed the front grille which now gets three horizontal chrome slats and a Toyota badge. At the rear, the only change is of the Toyota badge. There are no changes to the side profile.
Its interior is also finished in an all-black theme with wooden trim. In India, we get a beige theme for the cabin with wooden trim. A beige theme makes the cabin feel airier. The rest of the interior of the Rumion stays the same as the Ertiga.
Toyota has also not made any changes to the powertrain. So, Rumion is also offered with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine. The gearbox option also stays the same. According to the rumours, Toyota might also bring the Rumion in the Indian market. They already have the Toyota Glanza which is just a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno and they also have the Urban Cruiser which is a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Toyota has also started exporting Belta which is a rebadged Ciaz. They might launch the Belta in the Indian market because they have already filed a trademark for the nameplate and the Yaris has also been discontinued.
