Suzuki Ertiga Sport & Ignis Sport officially revealed

Suzuki Ertiga Sport & Ignis Sport officially revealed

The Indonesia International Motor Show of 2018 is on, and Suzuki of Indonesia has revealed two sporty new variants of the all-new, 2nd generation Ertiga MPV and the Ignis hatchback. Both variants are dubbed the Sport models, and are cosmetic makeovers of the regular Ertiga and Ignis. Engines and transmissions remain unchanged, which means that the Sport variants won’t do much for performance apart from looking good.

The Ignis Sport gets a glossy black paint finish with contrast red bits at multiple places in the body. For instance, the roof spoiler, bumper inserts, Suzuki logo and side decals are all finished in red. The alloy wheels get a blacked-out finish. Additions to the car include side skirts, a rear skid plate, a rear spoiler and a front skid plate.

Mechanically, the car sold in Indonesia retains the 1.2 litre K-Series petrol engine that’s good for 82 Bhp-113 Nm. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard. In India, Maruti Suzuki offers a 5 speed AMT option on the petrol powered Ignis, while the diesel powered Ignis that used to get both 5 speed manual and AMT options has been recently discontinued.

Coming to the second generation Suzuki Ertiga Sport, the MPV gets similar styling elements as the Ignis Sport, but with a few key additions. On the Suzuki Ertiga Sport, the headlamps get a smoked finish. Other cosmetic enhancements include an all-new grille, new bumpers with revised air intakes, a front lip spoiler, a contrast black roof, side skirts, taller alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler and skid plate.

Maruti Suzuki already sells the Ignis in India, and offers a range of customization options through its iCreate accessorization program. The all-new Ertiga MPV will be launched in India later this year. However, there’s no word of the Sport variant being made available here anytime soon.

Mechanically, the 2nd gen Ertiga Sport model gets the 1.5 litre K-Series petrol engine with 106 PS and 138 Nm – the same engine that’s found on the regular models. 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic transmissions are standard.
