Suzuki Gixxer 250: New pictures reveal front & rear of upcoming Yamaha Fazer 250 rival

Suzuki Motorcycles India is all set to launch a new, 250cc motorcycle that will challenge the Yamaha Fazer 250. The Gixxer 250 will be launched tomorrow, and a fresh set of leaked pictures from MotoBlast show the motorcycle’s front and rear ends. From the pictures, it’s clear that the Gixxer 250 will actually share styling elements with the smaller engined Gixxer 155, which has just received upgrades and has already begun reaching Suzuki dealerships across India. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 gets a sharp, raked headlamp, a full fairing, a twin barrel exhaust that is a signature design element on the Gixxer range, an LED tail lamp and a meaty rear tyre. Suzuki dealers have begun taking bookings for the new motorcycle with the booking amount pegged at Rs. 10,000.

As for pricing, which will be officially revealed tomorrow, we expect the Gixxer 250 to be priced at under Rs. 1.5 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. This price tag will make the motorcycle look attractive to those interested in the Yamaha Fazer 250, which retails for Rs. 1.43 lakhs. The new Suzuki sportsbike will get clip-on handlebars, rear set foot pegs and a sharply raked rear end.

The motorcycle will feature sporty styling and get split seats. As for the mechanicals, at the heart of the matter will be a 250cc, single cylinder air-oil cooled four stroke engine that produces 26 Bhp of peak power and 22.9 Nm of peak torque. This motor will be paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The bike will weigh 162 kilograms.

The Gixxer 250 will get conventional telescopic front forks at front and monoshock rear shock absorber to handle suspension duties. 17 inch alloy wheels at the front and rear shod with tubeless tyres will be standard, and the bike is also expected to feature dual channel ABS on both its disc brakes at the front and rear. The bike is expected to share its frame with the Gixxer 250, and this should give it sweet handling characteristics.

The fully faired Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 has a big hit in India, where buyers love faired motorcycles even in the affordable sub-Rs. 1 lakh segments. However, the 155cc engine, although smooth, has felt under-powered on the motorcycle. With the 250cc motor in place, the Gixxer will finally get the poke to match the sporty looks.

The first ride of this motorcycle will happen tomorrow, at the Buddh International Circuit. Stay tuned to CarToq as we bring you all the updates from the event along with a detailed first ride review of the brand new Suzuki motorcycle in town.
