Suzuki Intruder 150 cruiser motorcycle will soon get fuel injection

Suzuki will soon add fuel injection to the recently-launched Intruder 150 cruiser motorcycle. The company already offers fuel injection on the fully faired Gixxer SF, which also features the same 150cc four stroke engine found on the Intruder. The fuel injection system on the Gixxer SF comes with 6 sensors to inject optimum fuel for best throttle response and fuel efficiency.

Power and torque figures of the Intruder 150 will not change with the addition of fuel injection. Throttle response will get crisper and the bike will be less prone to changes in performance due to altitude as the fuel injection system will compensate better for such changes than the regular carburetor. The long stroke 155cc four stroke engine will continue to produce 14.8 PS of peak power and 14 Nm of peak torque.

The 5 speed manual gearbox will also continue. Suzuki offers both carbureted and fuel injected variants of the Gixxer SF to buyers in India. Similar options will be offered with the Intruder 150 as well. The fuel injected version of the cruiser is expected to command a higher price of about Rs. 9,000. The Intruder FI could have an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 1.05 lakhs. This makes it significantly costlier than the Bajaj Avenger 150, it’s chief rival.

However, the Intruder 150 already offers a lot of additional features compared to the Avenger 150, and with fuel injection added, the gap in features between the two budget cruisers will only become larger. That justifies the higher price tag. T

he Intruder will receive fuel injection within the next 6 months. Currently, key features offered on this cruiser are LED headlamp and tail lamp, ABS, twin disc brakes and big-bike styling. The fuel injected version will be showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo, scheduled to happen in February next year. This is likely to be Suzuki’s next launch.
