The Intruder is a large capacity, 1800cc V-Twin cruiser that Suzuki sells in India, and many other parts of the world. The baby Intruder will displace only 155cc though. While the bigger Intruder is priced at Rs. 16 lakhs, the 155cc version will be priced well under Rs. 1 lakh.

The smaller bike will borrow its engine from the Gixxer. The engine produces 14 Bhp of peak power and 14 Nm of peak torque, is air cooled and carburetted. A five speed manual gearbox is offered with this engine. Suzuki will offer hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels on the Intruder 155. A single channel ABS system will also be offered.

The new cruiser may become a big hit if Suzuki prices it aggressively because a lot of budget conscious commuter bike buyers want great styling and a big-bike feel ar a low cost. Suzuki has adopted this strategy in the past as well, with the Gixxer SF, which is a scaled down version of the GSX superbike. More detals about the Intruder 155cc cruiser including pricing, availability and bookings will be known on the day of launch.

The new cruiser bike will take on the Bajaj Avenger 150, which is the cheapest cruiser sold in India, and whose prices start from less than Rs. 80,000. Bajaj sells nearly 10,000 units of the Avenger each month, which indicates that there is a large market for such affordably priced cruisers. In the past, Yamaha has sold a 125cc cruiser in India, called the Enticer. The Enticer was also a popular bike.
