Suzuki has equipped the Intruder 150 cruiser motorcycle with ABS. The motorcycle was launched earlier today, at a price of Rs. 1.06 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The Intruder 150 is a pricier alternative to the Bajaj Avenger. It derives styling inspiration from the 1,800cc Intruder but is dimensionally smaller.
It also has a much smaller, 150cc, four stroke engine that’s borrowed from the Suzuki Gixxer 150 range. The addition of fuel injection hasn’t made a significant difference to this engine, which outputs the same 14.6 Bhp-14 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox is standard. Suspension consists of conventional front forks and a gas charged monoshock rear. The motorcycle gets split seats, a massive tank shroud and a wide, tall handlebar.
The Intruder 150 has disc brakes on both wheels, and single channel ABS is standard. Fuel injection and ABS are two key differentiating factors between the Intruder and Avenger. Due to these features, the Intruder 150 comes across as the more tech-packed motorcycle than the Avenger. Fuel injection will give it crisp throttle response while the single channel ABS will make it a much safer motorcycle to do higher speeds on.
However, it loses out on the engine displacement and torque, where the Avenger dominates with a 220cc engine and a significantly higher torque output. The Intruder is a much fresher looker, making it a big hit. Suzuki has already sold over 15,000 units of this motorcycle, and is pretty happy with the response that the market has given its latest affordable motorcycle. Sajeev Rajasekharan, executive vice-president, Sales & Marketing at Suzuki Motorcycle India said,
Since its launch, the Intruder has received an overwhelming demand with close to 15,000 units sold, overachieving our projected sales target by 25 percent. With a blend of premium appeal, coupled with features like ABS and now fuel injection technology, the Intruder is a premium offering in the cruiser segment.
