This year’s Auto Expo was focusing more towards the future where there will be more and more electric vehicles on our streets. Every manufacturer who had a stall at the expo had featured at least one electric vehicle or a concept. India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki had also showcased a concept model of their upcoming Futuro-E electric vehicle. Here we have a rendered image of Futuro-E based on the Suzuki Vitara that is sold in the international market.
The image has been uploaded by an artist on Spyder7 website and is heavily inspired by the Vitara SUV. At the front it gets sleek headlamps with signature Maruti Suzuki Grille that we have seen on cars like Ignis recently. Lower part of the bumper gets a huge air dam with Suzuki logo in the centre and there is even a skid plate at the bottom of the bumper. There is a carved out section on the bumper which accommodates the fog lamp and LED DRLs .
Coming to the side profile of the car, the design is a mix of both Vitara and the Futuro-E concept showcased at the expo. The roof line is sloping towards the rear and that flows in and joins the tail light at the rear. It gets Ignis like alloy wheels and the tail light from what we can see from the image is similar to the one found in XL6 or Ertiga. The Futuro-E concept is an all-electric SUV concept that has a coupe like design to it. it is not known whether this coupe like design will be there in the production version of the SUV.
Coming back to the Suzuki Vitara on which the rendered image is based on is not available in the Indian market. It is available with a litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 111 Bhp and 170 Nm of torque and a 1.4 litre boosterjet engine that produces 140 Ps and 220 Nm of torque. The 1.0 litre engine AllGrip technology which is Suzuki’s AWD technology.
The Futuro-E Concept when hits the production line will have a subtle or simple design which will be appreciated by the Indian families who will be buying this. Maruti Suzuki has already started working on this EV and is likely to launch sometime next year. The electric vehicle from Maruti Suzuki could take on the likes of the Hyundai Kona and the MG eZS. More details will be out shortly.
