People were waiting for a long time for Tata Motors to launch the Altroz with an automatic gearbox. However, it did not go exactly as people thought it would be. It was expected that the manufacturer will offer the automatic transmission with the turbocharged petrol engine. Instead, the automatic transmission is only offered with the naturally aspirated petrol engine.

According to media reports, Tata had to do this because when they paired the turbo petrol with the DCT, the cost was increasing so much that the price would have been more than the rivals. Because of this, Tata decided to offer the DCT with the naturally aspirated petrol engine.

The transmission that Tata Motors is using is a wet clutch unit. It is more suitable for Indian conditions when compared to a dry clutch unit. There will also be a manual mode on offer so that the driver can take manual control of the gears. There should also be some kind of drive modes on offer as well. We are not expecting Tata Motors to offer paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

The engine produces 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, a turbo petrol engine produces 110 PS of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque. You can also get a diesel engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque. All the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There will be no automatic transmission for the turbo petrol and the diesel engine.

A new paint scheme called Opera Blue will also be introduced. Other colours that are available with the Altroz are Arcade Grey, Downtown Red, Avenue White and Harbour Blue.

The only cosmetic change on the exterior will be the new DCA badge on the tailgate. In the interior, the only change will be the new gear lever that has tri-arrow elements on it. The rest of the feature list also stays the same.
