Tata will soon launch the Altroz powered by a turbocharged petrol engine. The car will be revealed on the 13th of January. But before that, leaked brochure of the Altroz iTurbo reveals a lot of details of the upcoming car. The Altroz turbo-petrol will get powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol that powers the Tata Nexon.
The new Altroz iTurbo will be available only with the top-end version of the vehicle. The XZ+ variant will also get a new Harbour Blue colour. Other colour options include Downtown Red, Avenue White, High Street Gold, and Midtown Grey.
Tata Altroz iTurbo engine
The Altroz iTurbo will come with the 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. It generates a maximum power of 110 PS at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm between 1,500 and 5,500 rpm. That is about 28% more power compared to the non-turbocharged petrol variant that generates about 82 PS. The torque output is about 24% more compared to the non-turbocharged version. The Tata Altroz iTurbo is also the most powerful version and is the quickest too. According to the official figures, the Tata Altroz iTurbo can do 0-100 km/h in just 13 seconds.
The engine will come with multiple driving modes that will change the power output like the Nexon. However, the brochure does not reveal the exact power output in different modes. The brochure, however, does not talk about the rumoured dual-clutch transmission or DCT that was earlier expected with the vehicle. The Altroz iTurbo will offer a five-speed manual transmission at the moment.
On the inside, there are no changes or updates. It continues to offer the same light grey cabin with blue highlights and ambient lights. The car will also come with dual-path suspension, and Idle-Start-Stop (ISS). The Altroz will also offer the same 7-inch floating-type infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The iTurbo will also continue to offer the same wearable key too. The info system also allows the users to select personalised wallpaper through Doodle. The infotainment system also offers cruise control, Intelligent Real-time Assist (IRA), voice-activated technology that responds to over 70 commands, a push-button start-stop system with the smart key. The vehicle also takes geo-location commands with three words.
Tata Altroz is the first hatchback in India to get a 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP. It gets a long list of safety features including ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, ALFA structure and more. The car also boasts of most wide opening doors in the segment that opens to up to 90 degrees.
Tata Altroz iTurbo price
The Altroz iTurbo is expected to get a price hike of about Rs 50,000 compared to the XZ+ variant naturally-aspirated version. The Altroz iTurbo will take on the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20. However, the Altroz will not offer a dual-clutch transmission like the i20. The other top-selling car like the Baleno does not offer a turbocharged petrol engine.
Tata will also launch the all-new Safari that is the renamed version of the Tata Gravitas. Tata will also launch the new Hexa BS6 and the production version of the HBX in the Indian market.
