Tata Motor has just put out a new video that show the Altroz iTurbo inside out. The Tata Altroz iTurbo is a new variant of India’s strongest hatchback. The new version of the car features a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that it has borrowed from the Nexon compact SUV. On the Altroz iTurbo, this motor makes 110 PS of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque, which is lower than the 120 PS-170 Nm outputs the same motor makes on the Nexon. While the 11 PS-140 Nm outputs are clearly lower than what this motor makes on the Nexon, it’s a big step up from the naturally aspirated petrol engine of the Altroz, which makes 86 PS-113 Nm. The additional power and torque will make the Altroz a lot of fun, and that’s exactly what the video below indicates. Tata Motors, for its part, claims a 11.9 second 0-100 Kmph sprint time, which should keep most if not all drivers behind the Altroz iTurbo’s wheel entertained.
A five speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels of the car while a Multi-Drive mode that has a sport mode is a best-in-segment feature. The Altroz was the first Indian hatchback to secure a 5 star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests last year, and the new iTurbo turbo model should be no different. Built tough, the Tata Altroz iTurbo is what safety-minded car buyers can opt for.
Twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, reverse parking camera, cornering ABS, cruise control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, speed alerts and seat belt reminder are the various safety features that the Altroz iTurbo offers on the top-end trim. Talking of trims, the car is available in XT, XZ and XZ+ trims. The Altroz iTurbo is also available in a new colour called Harbour Blue.
Key features available on the top-end XZ+ trim of the Altroz iTurbo are as follows:
iRA (Intelligent Real time Assist) – iRA is a smart new connected technology designed to cater to the needs of the Indian customer. iRA has been developed in India for India. The Altroz is available with two other engine options: the 1.2 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 86 PS-113 Nm and 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 90 PS of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Both engines get 5 speed manual gearboxes as standard. Meanwhile, Tata Motors is said to be working on a twin clutch (DCT) automatic gearbox for the newly introduced turbo petrol engine. The Altroz DCT is likely to be launched later this year.
