Tata will reveal the all-new hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show, but before that, Tata has released yet another teaser that reveals the side design and window line of the Maruti Baleno rival.
Earlier videos released by Tata gives a fair idea of how the Altroz will look like from the front and the rear. It gets the new IMPACT 2.0 design language and looks very futuristic. In the new teaser video, the upswept window line is clearly visible, which adds an elegant look to the car. It also looks like the rear door handles are integrated into the C-Pillars, which will give a clean look to the vehicle. The roofline of the Altroz remains straight, but the upswept window line gives it a sporty design.
The front of the Tata Altroz gets the humanity line that forms the grille of the vehicle. The sleek grille also incorporates the headlamp that looks very futuristic. At the rear, the Altroz gets split tail lamps that look quite similar to the ones to the Tata Harrier. The dashboard of the upcoming Tata Altroz will also get inspired by the Tata Harrier. A leaked image showed the instrument cluster of the Altroz, and it looks very similar to the Harrier. The instrument cluster in the Altroz gets squared edges while the Harrier gets round edges.
Tata also released a teaser image showing the central console of the upcoming Altroz. The picture shows the electronic parking brake of the Altroz and a rotary dial to shift between the modes in the automatic version. It also confirms that the Altroz will offer an automatic transmission when it is launched in the market.
The all-new Tata Altroz will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Tata Nexon and the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine from the Nexon too. There will be manual transmission as standard and Tata is expected to offer a dual-clutch transmission with the petrol version of the Altroz.
The Altroz will take on the likes of Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20 in the Indian market. Both these vehicles are quite well-established in the market. However, Tata is known for its value-for-money products, and the Altroz will not be any different
. It is expected to get a very attractive price tag with premium features that will create problems for the existing vehicles in the segment. So, expect a starting price much cheaper than that of the Baleno. Tata will launch the all-new Altroz by the end of this year. It will also get an Electrified version that will be unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
