Tata Altroz and all-new Hyundai i20 compared on video

Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20 are some of the popular premium hatchbacks sold in India. These premium hatchbacks compete with cars like Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the segment. We have seen several video featuring all these cars on the internet. Here we have another video that features Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in it. It is basically a comparison video where the vlogger compares the build quality, looks, features and shares his opinions about both the vehicles.

The video has been uploaded by Arun Panwar on their YouTube channel. The video starts with the vlogger showing the exterior of both the hatchbacks. According to the video, vlogger feels like the Hyundai i20 has a look that is similar to many other Hyundai cars like Verna. The Altroz gets a much more muscular looking design at the front.

Both Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz seen in the video are one trim below the top-end version. Both the hatchbacks are decently loaded in terms of features. vlogger then checks the side profile of both the hatchbacks. The i20 gets a flat lower window line with chrome garnish whereas the Altroz gets a gloss black insert with rising window line. In comparison to i20, Altroz has less chrome on the side profile. Moving to the rear, both hatchbacks have gloss black finish on the boot which gives it a premium look.

On the inside, Altroz gets features like semi-digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment screen, automatic climate control, all four power windows and so on. The i20 on the other hand gets a bigger touchscreen infotainment screen, better or much more crisp looking feed from rear parking camera, fully digital instrument cluster and so on. In terms of features, Hyundai i20 takes the round. As it offers more features, Hyundai i20 more expensive than Altroz. As per the video, the price of Tata XZ petrol model in Palwal, Haryana is Rs 8.5 lakh whereas the Hyundai i20 Asta costs around Rs 10 lakh (both prices on road).

In terms of refinement, the vloggers shares that he felt Tata Altroz has a lot more vibrations on the inside. The i20 felt very smooth and felt a lot more insulated inside the cabin in comparison to Altroz. The vlogger then checks the rear seat space after pushing the seat all the way to the back. Both hatchbacks offered similar amount of space. Here the vlogger mentions that Maruti Baleno offers a lot more space on the inside.

When it comes to build quality, Tata Altroz wins the rounds unanimously. It is the only car in the segment to get a 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash test. Hyundai i20 is also a good vehicle but, it is not as safe as a Tata Altroz. Tata Altroz offers more boot space than Hyundai i20 and when it comes to performance, the vlogger says that the Altroz’s 1.2 litre, three cylinder engine feels underpowered in comparison to i20. The main reason behind it could be the weight. Altroz is a heavier car and although both i20 and Altroz are powered by 1.2 litre naturally aspirated engines and generate same amount of power and torque, the light weight body of i20 makes it a much more fun car to drive in city and highways.
