Tata has gone very aggressive on their product strategy in India. In 2018, Tata launched a few new products in the form of Tiago JTP, Tigor JTP and the Nexon AMT. In 2019, Tata will bring in three all-new cars and an electrified version of a regular car. Tata has confirmed the launch of the all the four cars in the 2019 calendar year and here’s everything that you want to know about it.
Tata Harrier
Launch: 23rd January
Tata Harrier will be the first launch from the brand this year. Tata has officially showcased the vehicle and it is based on the Land Rover’s D8 platform. The Tata Harrier is a 5-seater SUV and will take on the likes of Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV 500 and the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta. The Harrier looks very unique in the Indian market, thanks to its separate DRLs and headlamp housing. It also gets unique engine modes and drives modes that make the 2WD SUV quite capable. The Harrier is powered by 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 140 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. Tata will not offer an automatic or 4X4 option at the time of the launch.
Tata 45X
Expected launch time: Mid 2019
Tata has confirmed that the 45X would be the second launch from the brand this year. The 45X would be the first premium hatchback from the brand that will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20 in the market. The 45X would be the first car on the Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). Tata is expected to keep the production version of the 45X close to the concept version that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The 45X is expected to be powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine.
Tata H7X
Expected launch time: End 2019

Tata is also working on a long wheelbase version of the Harrier which is internally codenamed as the H7X. It will be much longer than the Harrier and will feature three-row seating. The H7X will look quite different from the Harrier and will target the owners with big families. The platform and the mechanicals will be common as the Harrier. However, the 2.0-litre diesel engine is expected to be tuned in a higher spec. Tata is also expected to launch the automatic version with the H7X and it will be introduced to the Harrier too.
Tata Tigor EV
Expected launch time: Mid 2019
The Tata Tigor EV is already in production and is being supplied to the government officials under the contract. Tata Tigor EV is also available on rent from Zoom Car. The electric sedan looks identical to the regular version but gets EV badges all around. The Tigor EV may get the same 30 kW, 3-phase AC induction motor that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The price would be around Rs. 10 lakh.
