Tata Motors is seeing a big sales slowdown like most other car makers in India, and this only means big discounts for buyers willing to buy cars this festive season. Tata Motors’ latest launch – the Harrier SUV – is now available with a hefty discount of Rs. 65,000, which is the highest discount that the vehicle has seen ever since its launch in January this year. The discounts on the Tata Harrier are divided into 3 parts: an exchange bonus of Rs. 35,000, a corporate discount of Rs. 15,000 and an additional exchange bonus of Rs. 15,000 to sweeten the deal further. With this latest discount, the Harrier becomes a lot more attractive to buyers as the new deal more or less offsets the price hike that the SUV had seen a few months ago. Apart from the Tata Harrier, big discounts are on offer on other SUVs such as the Hexa and Nexon.
The Hexa gets a discount of Rs. 1.65 lakhs, which is the biggest offer on Tata cars sold currently, while the Nexon gets a discount of Rs. 90,500. Like on the Harrier, the discounts on the Hexa and Nexon are divided into various components. The Hexa’s offers are divided into a cash discount of Rs. 50,000, exchange bonus of upto Rs. 50,000, an additional Rs. 50,000 discount on specific stock, and finally a corporate discount of Rs. 15,000. As for the Tata Nexon, the sub-4 meter compact SUV has a discount divided into a Rs. 25,000 cash discount, an exchange bonus of Rs. 25,000, a corporate discount of Rs. 7,500, Rs. 30,000 off on specific stock and a free 1 gram gold coin.
Coming back to the Tata Harrier, the 5 seat SUV is offered in four trims: XE, XM, XT and XZ. The SUV also gets a dual tone paint scheme on the top-end trim. Recently, Tata Motors came up with an accessory pack for the Harrier, which added a sunroof to the equation. Meanwhile, All variants are powered by a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 140 Bhp-350 Nm state of tune.
There’s a single transmission on offer: a 6 speed manual, which drives the front wheels. Early next year, Tata Motors is expected to launch the BS6 version of the Harrier, which could get a power boost to 170 Bhp. The Harrier will also get a 6 speed torque converter automatic transmission option. Tata Motors is also working on a petrol engine option for the SUV, which could be offered with a mild/full hybrid.
