However, in the current situation, the Tata Harrier is the best-selling vehicle in the segment, which ensures a high waiting period on the car when compared to the direct rivals.
The data compiled by CarDekho from various major cities of the country show which vehicle is available at the earliest in different cities and tentative waiting periods on them. The Tata Harrier gets a maximum waiting time of 3 months in several cities including Pune, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Patna. Even in other cities, the waiting period varies from 1 week in Delhi to 6 weeks in Bengaluru. On the other hand, the maximum waiting period of Jeep Compass is 3 weeks and Mahindra XUV300 is 6 weeks.

The Tata Harrier is high in demand in the market due to its modern styling and value-for-money price tag. The all-new Tata Harrier gets a new-age split headlamp design that is fast becoming a common design on new cars. Also, the Harrier looks intimidating on the roads and gets a loaded cabin too. The Harrier gets powered by a single engine option and only gets a 6-speed manual transmission. The all-new Tata Harrier gets powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 140 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. There is no automatic transmission available with the Harrier yet but it is likely to be launched in the market soon.
The Jeep Compass is the most expensive vehicle in the segment but it gets a lot of unique features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-clutch automatic transmission with petrol and diesel engine options and more. The Compass gets powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates a maximum of 161 Bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The 2.0-litre diesel engine available with the car is more powerful and produces a maximum power of 170 Bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. Jeep will soon launch the automatic version with the diesel engine in the Indian market.

The XUV500 has remained one of the popular choices in the segment. It is well-loaded and offers a host of features. The XUV500 also gets powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that generates a maximum power of 153 Bhp and 360 Nm. It gets both manual and automatic transmission options. The petrol engine is available only with a single variant – G and it produces 138 Bhp and 320 Nm. The petrol engine option is only available with an automatic transmission.
