Tata Harrier now comes with an air purifier in almost all variants

Tata Motors added an air purifier to the Harrier with the Kaziranga Edition. Now, the feature has been trickled down to most of Harrier’s variants. It is now available with XT, XT+, XZ, XZ+, XTA+, XZA and XZA+. If you want to get the Harrier with an air purifier, you would have to spend at least Rs. 17.21 lakhs ex-showroom on the XT variant. The XE and XM variants still do not come with an air purifier. The starting price of the Harrier is Rs. 14.52 lakhs ex-showroom.

The air purifier would also be able to show AQI in the infotainment system. Moreover, Tata Motors also recently added front ventilated seats and wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay to the infotainment system. No other changes have been made to the Harrier.

Harrier Prices, variants and special editions

As mentioned above, the prices of Harrier starts from Rs. 14.52 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 21.81 for the top-end variant. Harrier is offered in six variants. There is XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. There are two special editions of the Harrier. There is Dark Edition and Kaziranga Edition.

Engine and gearbox

Tata Motors is using the same 2.0-litre diesel engine from the Compass and the Hector. However, it has been tuned specifically for the Harrier. It produces 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There are three drive modes on offer namely, Eco, Sport and City. There is also a terrain response system that comes with three modes. It is Normal, Rough, Wet.

Being a Tata vehicle, there are a lot of safety features on offer. It comes with Dual Airbags, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Distribution, Roll Over Mitigation, Brake Disc Wiping, Cornering Stability Program and rear parking sensors as standard. If you upgrade to higher variants, you also get 6 airbags, Off-road ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, Hill Descent Control and rain-sensing wipers.

The Harrier has also proved its build quality in several accidents by protecting the occupants. You can see such instances on the internet. Surprisingly, Tata Motors has not yet sent the SUV for a Global NCAP crash test.

Feature list

Harrier comes with a pretty decent feature list. As standard, you get three USB ports to charge mobile devices, all four power windows, central locking, perimetric alarm system, LED Daytime Running Lamps, projector headlamps, power steering and Tilt & Telescopic Adjustable Steering Wheel.

As you climb up the variant ladder, you get a 7-inch or 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, JBL speakers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, fog lamps, air purifier, soft-touch dashboard, rear parking camera, push-button to start/stop the engine, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, HID projector headlamps, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, air purifier and much more.
