Tata Harrier rivaling MG Hector’s launch date revealed

The launch date of the much awaited MG Hector is finally out now. MG Motors India will launch the car on the 27th of this month, which makes it about a week away from now. The SUV has been officially revealed a few days back and all details barring the price of the Hector are already known. When launched, it will rival the likes of the Tata Harrier chiefly, though other competitors like the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Hexa, and Jeep Compass among others will also provide it with a fair amount of competition.

Dimensionally, the MG Hector will be bigger than the Tata Harrier in every aspect except for the width. It measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height. The Hector also gets a decent amount of ground clearance standing at 192 mm. Its long body means that its wheelbase is also the longest in the segment at 2,750 mm. The boot space capacity of Hector is 587 litres, which again is humongous.

Speaking of interiors and features, the MG Hector is a five-seater SUV with ample of space available inside along with a plethora of features to boast, including a few first in segment features too. It comes with a 10.4-inch vertically-mounted touchscreen infotainment system along with an integrated eSIM that gives live location updates and serves a variety of internet-based functions.

Another interesting feature it gets is the AI-based voice recognition feature which can be used to control several features of the car including the windows, AC, navigation among others. Other features on the Hector include automatic LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround camera, heated ORVMs, reclining rear seats, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control and ambient lighting among others. Safety has also been taken care of as the Hector comes with safety features like six airbags, traction control, hill hold assist, ABS, 360-degree camera along with parking sensors as well.

Talking about the engines available on the Hector, MG will offer both petrol and diesel engine options with the SUV. The petrol engine will be a 1.5-litre petrol unit that will pump out 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be the 2.0-litre Multijet unit that produces a maximum power of 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. MG will also offer a 48V hybrid system as an optional feature with the top three petrol variants and the Hector will be the only vehicle in its segment to come with a hybrid drivetrain. Talking about the gearbox options, the petrol variants will get a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission as an option while all other variants get a 6-speed manual gearbox.
