Tata Harrier, Safari with ADAS launching soon: Official bookings now open

Tata Motors via its official Twitter handle has announced the commencement of bookings for its updated flagship SUV duo the 2023 Harrier and Safari. The company most likely will be launching the new SUVs next month. It has upgraded the Harrier and the Safari with the much anticipated ADAS features. Additionally, Tata Motors has added an all-new larger touchscreen infotainment system to both of the SUVs as well.

As part of the 2023 update both the SUVs for the ADAS features will come equipped with safety tech such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, lane change alert and more along with a 360-degree camera.

Additionally, an all-new infotainment system will also be offered in both SUVs. Replacing the old 8.8-inch touchscreen will be a 10.25-inch one that will also get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Voice commands in six different languages will also be supported. Furthermore, the SUV siblings will also get a new 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster as well. Another feature that only the Safari will get is the addition of ambient lighting on the right and left sides of the panoramic sunroof. The Harrier will only come with the panoramic sunroof and not the ambient lighting.

Apart from these the SUVs will not be receiving any new updates to the powertrain side of things. Both will still come powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel mill that generates a maximum of 170hp and 350Nm. These engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The only change in the powerplants of both SUVs will be that it they will now be Bharat Stage Phase II compliant and also get updated drive modes with an ESP terrain response system.

As of yet, the company has not revealed the prices for these new and updated SUVs but we can expect Tata Motors to charge a premium of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for all the upgrades.

It is to be noted that the currently the company has only announced the bookings for the updated standard Safari and Harrier. The company at the Auto Expo 2023 also showcased the Red Edition of both the SUVs and currently it has not announced the bookings commencement and launch dates of these SUVs.

The Red Edition models showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 boasted an all-new fully red interior. The SUVs at the show had ‘Carnelian’ red seat upholstery with a quilted pattern, red leatherette grab handles, grey dashboard trim, and piano black accents on the steering wheel. The new Edition vehicles also had ventilated front seats and a driver’s seat that was electrically adjustable with memory. Meanwhile on the exterior the SUVs had minimal changes and just received a slightly different shade of ‘Oberon Black’ along with a small hint of red on the front grille. Like these new standard SUVs the new Red Edition models also had the same powerplant and no upgrades to the drivetrains as well.
