Tata Harrier SUV: New TVC out

Tata Harrier, is one of the popular SUV in the mid-size segment. It competes with the like of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Hector in the segment. Tata launched Harrier back in 2019 and recently updated the SUV to meet the new emission norms. As part of this transition, the 2020 Harrier received minor updates too. The vehicle is currently the flagship SUV from the brand and they have now released a new commercial for the SUV.

The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their official youtube channel.  The video basically talks about the foundation and how a strong foundation is important to be successful. In this case, the foundation that the video is talking about is the OMEGARC which is used in the Harrier. It is actually derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform which is already used in SUVs like Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The Harrier has a bold looking exterior. The dual function LED DRLs, headlamps installed on the bumper, muscular front grille and bumper all give it an imposing look on the road. As mentioned above, as part of the BS6 transition, Tata made some changes to the SUV. Starting from the exterior, it now gets a redesigned ORVM which helps in reducing the blind spot in A pillar area. The other change here is the new set of dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels.

On the inside, it gets a well laid out cabin with leather upholstery, multi function steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment screen and so on. The new features added in the BS6 version include a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable driver seat and auto-dimming IRVM. Apart from these changes, Harrier remains the same on the inside.

Tata Harrier is available with a diesel engine only. The Fiat sourced BS6 compliant 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. This is 30 Ps more than what the BS4 version generated. Other noticeable change in the Harrier is that it is now available with an automatic gearbox. The 6-speed torque converter unit is sourced from Hyundai. It continues to get a 6-speed manual gearbox as well. Price for manual version of Tata Harrier starts at Rs 13.69 lakh, ex-showroom and the automatic version starts at Rs 16.25 lakh, ex-showroom.
