Tata Harrier was one of the most anticipated products from Tata Motors. It got launched in 2019 and since then, it is a popular mid-size SUV in the segment. The Harrier competes with cars like Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos in the segment. The SUV is available with a diesel engine only. The same 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine is used in Jeep Compass as well. Jeep launched the 2021 version of Compass in the market and here we have a video where Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass are competing with each other in a class drag race.
The video has been uploaded by Fuel Injected on their YouTube channel. On paper both Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier generate same amount of power and torque and that is why, this is an interesting race. In order to race, the vlogger and his friend chose an empty runway that is currently under construction. Never do such stunts on public roads as you are putting your life as well as life of other road users in danger by doing so.

Both SUVs were lined up for the race and vlogger sat inside Jeep Compass first. The race starts and Jeep Compass took the lead instantly. Tata Harrier was trying hard to minimise the gap but, all the efforts were in vain. Jeep Compass maintained the lead and won the first round. In next round, vlogger sits in Tata Harrier and they start the second round. Surprisingly, Tata Harrier took the lead instantly and Jeep Compass missed the launch.
Harrier took advantage and maintained the lead. Harrier was successful in maintaining the gap and won the second round. In the final round, driver in the Jeep Compass changed but, in Harrier it remained the same. Third round started and once again, Tata Harrier had a smooth start while Jeep Compass struggled. Harrier once again maintained the lead and won the third round.
Tata Harrier was announced as the winner of this drag race. Both SUVs used here in the race are 4×2 models and the Harrier was driven in Sport Mode. Jeep Compass does not come with any such drive modes. Vlogger can be heard saying at the end that both SUVs had similar power to weight ratio and even then Harrier managed to win because, the electronics in Harrier were not interrupting.
Jeep Compass was not getting a proper launch because the traction control was kicking in every time. Vlogger does not mention anything about the traction control in the video so, we can guess that the traction control was turned off in any of the vehicles. Because of this interruption, Jeep Compass was finding it hard to get a perfect launch. If the traction control had been turned off, then race would have been a lot more interesting.
Both Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier are powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. Both SUVs generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. Both SUVs come with manual and automatic gearbox option and it is only Jeep Compass that is available with 4×4 as an option.
