Tata HBX Concept was one of the most hyped cars at the Auto Expo 2020. The production name of the HBX is rumoured to be Hornbill but as of now, nothing is confirmed By Tata Motors. The new micro-SUV has been spotted on the Indian roads while on a test. Now, the interiors of the HBX has been spotted and new spy shots have surfaced on the internet.
It was the design of the HBX that gathered so much attention at the Auto Expo 2020. Despite being a small vehicle, the design of the HBX was muscular and inspired by SUVs. There is no doubt that the recent designs of Tata vehicles are stunning. They are based on IMPACT 2.0 design language as Tata likes to call it.
Not only the exterior, but the interior of the HBX is also quite unique. It has some funky elements with modern touches. The variant that was spotted on the test this time was the top-end one. So, it revealed quite a bit of detail for the upcoming HBX.
In the spy shots, we can see that the HBX is using a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer. This is the same unit that we have seen on the Altroz premium hatchback. The screen would show various information to the driver. So, the driver would not need to take their eyes off the road to check the infotainment system. We are also expecting that the screen would show turn-by-turn navigation which is very useful.
Then we can see the steering wheel that is borrowed from the Altroz. It gets the same buttons as the Altroz. So, the HBX will come with cruise control, voice commands and a multi-function steering wheel. The logo on the steering wheel is covered, but it is evident that the logo is of Tata Motors. We cannot see the lower part of the steering wheel, but it is expected to be a flat-bottom one.
There is automatic climate control and the unit is directly borrowed from the Altroz. We can also see a USB port and a 12V accessory socket. There is also a push-button to start/stop on offer which means there is a high chance that keyless entry might also be on offer.
There are square Air conditioning vents just like we saw at the Auto Expo. But the concept at the Auto Expo had a surround around the AC vents which we also expect will be on offer as Tiago and Tigor already offers it. There is also a floating touchscreen infotainment system that appears to be 7-inches in size. It will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The variant that we see here is a 5-speed manual gearbox one. There will also be a 5-speed AMT on offer as spied before. The engine that will be offered with the HBX will be the 1.2-litre three-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit founded on the Altroz, Tiago and the Tigor. The engine produces 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque.
The HBX is expected to go on sale sometime this year. It will be competing against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100, upcoming Citroen CC21 and the upcoming Hyundai AX1.
