Tata has been trying to change the face of its automobile division and it is finally showing in the sales figure. Tata Tiago became a major hit in the segment with consistent sales of around 4,000 units per month. It has been a long time since Tata has got received such a response from the market.
The aftermath of the Tiago is showing clearly on the market with Tata now placed at number 4 position in terms of sales while the market share is swelled to 5.8%. The Indian brand sold 16,311 units of passenger vehicles in the October month, out of which Tiago alone sold over 7,000 units.
What’s so special about Tiago?
In simple terms, the Tiago offers a bucket load of features at a very competitive price. The Tiago also looks very good, better than the likes of WagonR and Celerio while undercutting them on the price-list. The diesel variant of the Tiago is also similarly priced and undercuts the Celerio diesel price by nearly Rs. 1 lakh.
The Tiago also offers better space, more features and is more spacious than the competition. The car is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces a maximum of 84 BHP and 114 Nm, yet it is more efficient than the Celerio, which is powered by a 1.0-litre motor and produces a mere 67 BHP and 90 Nm of torque.
The exceptional feature list like 8-speaker system, navigation, voice control and infotainment increases the value of the Tiago by a much greater number.
What’s next from Tata?
Tata has couple of cars in the near-future line-up. The Hexa is coming soon and we think Tata will be able to replicate the winning the recipe with the SUV too. Also, Tata is preparing the Nexon compact SUV, that should arrive by the mid next year and will take on the cars like Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
