Tata Manza Elan spied

What you see here is the first spy photo of the upcoming Tata Manza Elan. As reported earlier, Tata Motors is preparing to launch a new Manza variant, that will likely be named Manza Elan.

The spy photos, grabbed by a Team BHP member, show the Tata Manza Elan sporting an Elan badge (replacing the Aura + badge), front fog lamps with chrome inserts, and alloy wheels as standard. The Aura+ is the top-end variant of the current Manza. Update: New Tata Manza launched

Most of the changes appear to be on the inside, with the upgraded Manza Elan featuring dual tone interiors (purple brown-beige), door scuff plate and new seat fabric.

Sadly, the Manza Elan will just be a cosmetic facelift and hence, will be powered by the same 1.3-litre Quadrajet 90 diesel engine with VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) and the 1.4 Safire 90 petrol engine used in the current models.

Some of the earlier speculations about Tata planning to drop the ‘Indigo’ badge in the new Manza appear to be incorrect as the spy pictures clearly show the new Manza bearing the ‘Indigo’ badge. Also, there seems to be no change in the length of the car, which dispels rumors that the new Manza will be more compact and tucked under 4 meters in length to benefit from excise duty sops.

The refreshed Manza Elan surely looks set to give the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Toyota Etios a run for their money. Now, if only Tata Motors can get the pricing right.
