After all the leaked photographs and specifications, and much speculation, the Tata Manza has finally been launched. As expected, there is a petrol as well as three diesel variants of the Manza on offer.
What we have been waiting for is the price of the Tata Manza variants. The base petrol version of the car is priced at Rs 4.8 lakhs. The top end diesel version of the car is priced at 6.75 lakhs. All prices are ex showroom New Delhi.
Overall, the car does not disappoint. Pricing is spot on, and as far as features are concerned, the Manza car has enough specifications and features to take the battle to its competition. The car is expected to compete against other established cars such as Suzuki Desire, Renault Logan, Chevrolet Aveo and Ford Fiesta in the lower mid-size car market (though the Fiesta doesn’t belong to that class).
Revealing the car to the media in Mumbai, the head of passenger car business, said that this is the best car ever from the company. He said that the new car showcases the abilities of the company like no other.
The Manza will be available in four versions. The Aqua (low-end petrol base model), Aura (diesel), Aura ABS and Aura+ (Aura Plus), the full featured top end diesel model with the works.
The Tata Indigo sedan will not be replaced by the Manza – Tata will continue to sell it, but probably will position it more for the taxi market.
Both the petrol and diesels produce 90 BHP, but the diesel produces a lot more torque. The diesel engine that does duty in the Tata Manza is a differently tuned Fiat 1.3 liter engine that is on offer in some 6 cars (including the Fiat Linea) in India right now.
We have already talked about the Tata Manza’s features earlier today, so I don’t want to repeat all that here. Click through the link to read it.
Tata Manza: Fuel efficiency / mileage
The petrol Manza has a claimed fuel economy of 14.5 kmpl per liter of petrol, while the diesel version offers 21.02 kmpl. Remember that these are the official figures, so actual on-the-road mileage will likely be a bit lower.
