Today, Tata Motors honoured and handed over the keys of Altroz premium hatchback to Olympians as an appreciation for their commendable performances. Tata is known for the build quality of their passenger vehicles. The Altroz is Tata’s first ever product in the premium hatchback segment and was introduced in the market last year. Altroz competes with cars like Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the segment. What makes Altroz different from all the rivals is its build quality.
Tata Altroz is the only premium hatchback in the segment to get a 5 star safety rating at Global NCAP crash test. Tata Altroz is offered with decent list of features like a touchscreen infotainment screen, iRA connected car technology, multi-function steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, cruise control, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic headlamps, rear AC vents and many more.
It is not known whether the athletes were gifted with petrol or diesel engine version of the premium hatchback. Tata Altroz is available with a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 86 Ps and 113 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version of the hatchback is powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine. This engine generates 90 Ps and 200 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel engine options are only available with a manual gearbox.
Earlier this year, Tata also introduced a turbocharged petrol engine with the Altroz. This version is known as iTurbo. It is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 110 Ps and 140 Nm of peak torque. Tata is yet to launch an automatic transmission with any of these variants.
