Tata Motors recently introduced two new XMS and XMAS variants to the Safari line-up, priced at Rs. 17.97 lakh and Rs. 19.27 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Tata Motors has just put out a new TVC detailing 10 reasons why you must buy the new Safari XMS.

The new XMS and XMAS variants of the Tata Safari work well to diversify its line-up. At a premium of Rs. 1.17 lakh, the new variants get additional features from the top-end trims such as panoramic sunroof, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers amongst others, over the XM and XMA variants. The manual transmission XMS costs Rs. 17.19 lakh while the automatic XMAS will set you back by Rs. 19.27 lakh. Tata Motors shared a YouTube video highlighting 10 reasons why you must buy the new Safari XMS, so let’s have a run-through on what’s so special about these variants.

1. Pedigree of OMEGARC

The Tata Safari is based on the OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Architecture) platform, derived from JLR’s D8 platform. It uses a monocoque construction and is an extremely lightweight chassis. The architecture lends the SUV supreme driving dynamics without compromising on the ride quality. In addition to this, the added advantage of its lightweight construction coupled with enhanced safety definitely makes a case for itself and becomes one of the reasons for you to consider the Safari XMS variant.

2. 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Tata Safari XMS variant also comes with the option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Christened as the XMAS, this AT gearbox will add to the convenience of your day-to-day city drives along with giving the best driving pleasure using its Tiptronic function.

3. Kryotec 170 PS Diesel Engine

Powering the Safari XMS is the 2.0 litre Fiat sourced Kryotec diesel engine putting out 170 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain setup on the Safari provides ample power to tackle all kinds of terrain and is a hoot to drive.

4. Panoramic Sunroof

Yes, the newest XMS and XMAS variants in the Safari’s line-up get a panoramic sunroof. Although its usage and practicality in the Indian climatic conditions is a controversial topic, still this is the one feature which you will definitely love to have in the SUV.

5. 8-Speaker System

The 8-speaker system from the higher variants is now available in the XMS variant, making it quite value for money. If you are a music lover, then the new variant will definitely appeal to you in terms of its fantastic sound quality.

6. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

The missing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality was always a gripe in the lower variants of Tata Safari. Now the XMS variant also gets this feature which lets you seamlessly connect your smartphone to the SUV’s infotainment system.

7. Multi Drive Modes

Another useful feature which the XMS variant gets is the multi-drive modes. The Eco, City and Sport drive modes let you tame the SUV’s raw power and use it according to your requirements.

8. 7-inch Floating Island Infotainment System

The 7-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit on the XMS variant brings in some fresh air of technology inside the cabin. The screen looks quite smart and works well in terms of overall functionality.

9. Reverse Parking Camera

The missing reverse parking camera on the lower variants of the Safari was a glaring omission. The outstretching dimensions of Tata Motor’s flagship SUV will now be easier to navigate in tight spots with the help of the reverse parking camera.

10. Rain Sensing Wipers

Last but not the least, the rain-sensing wipers are a very useful feature which saves you from the hassle of turning the wipers on/off and controlling the frequency. Now the XMS variant of Safari gets this important feature and gives you another reason to consider this value-for-money variant.
