Tata Motors has finally started accepting bookings for the upcoming Altroz Automatic. The manufacturer is calling it Altroz DCA where DCA stands for Dual-Clutch Automatic. The booking amount has been set to Rs. 21,000 and deliveries will start from mid-March 2022.
Altroz will now also be available in a new paint shade called Opera Blue, the same paint scheme was also launched for the Nexon compact SUV. The DCA variants will be sold in the top three variants. So, the Altroz DCA will be available in XT, XZ and XZ+. You would also be able to get the new automatic gearbox with the Dark Edition. Other colours in which Altroz is offered is Harbour Blue, Downtown Red, Avenue White and Arcade Grey.
Tata Motors is using a wet clutch transmission. According to them, it is more suited for the Indian conditions. It is still not confirmed whether it will be a 6-speed unit or a 7-speed unit. The automatic gearbox will get a manual mode and drive modes too but as of now, we do know what drive modes will be there. The gear stick itself will get tri-arrow elements that we have seen on all other Tata vehicles.

However, what we do know is that the dual-clutch automatic transmission will be offered only with the Revotron petrol engine. It is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that produces 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. Till now, this engine was offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Till now, it was rumoured that the DCT gearbox would be offered with the turbocharged petrol engine. However, that did not happen probably because it was costing too much. The turbo-petrol engine is also a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit but it is substantially more powerful. It produces 110 PS of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to only a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Altroz is also offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It produces 90 Ps of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 5-speed manual gearbox only.
Mr. Rajan Amba, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, “India’s safest hatchback, the ALTROZ, has carved a niche for itself in the premium hatch segment with more than 1.25 lakh happy customers.
