Tata Motors releases new Safari ad for International Men’s Day

Tata Motors has released a new advertisement for Safari on International Men’s Day. International Men’s Day is celebrated on 19th November and the Safari advertisement is dedicated to men. In the advertisement video, we can see men doing off-roading in a Safari which shows their tough and rugged nature. Then we also see them cooking and cleaning the house which shows their sentimental side.

The advertisement says “The tough, the rugged are things that they don’t have to be because they are sentimental too, they are humane too. They are managers of anything and everything and to some, they are everything. Let’s break the stereotype and reclaim your life”

Safari is no longer offered with all-wheel drive

The new Safari is not offered with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. It is not even a rear-wheel-drive SUV, Tata offers the Safari only as a front-wheel-drive powertrain. This disappointed a lot of purists when the SUV was first launched. However, now the sales are increasing slowly and people are realizing that they do not need all-wheel drive. Having said that it would have been nice if Tata offered an all-wheel-drive powertrain because Mahindra XUV700 which is Safari’s biggest rival offers an all-wheel-drive system with its top-end trim.

Safari is based on the OMEGARC platform which is also used on the Harrier. The OMEGARC platform is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. Because of this, the ride quality of both SUVs is phenomenal.  It is slightly on the firmer side but that gives SUVs a planted feel when doing triple-digit speeds on the highways.

Engine and gearbox

Safari is offered only with a diesel engine that is sourced from Fiat. The same engine is used on the MG Hector Twins, Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass. It is a 2.0-litre unit that Tata calls Kyrotec. The engine produces 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Tata did say that the OMEGARC platform supports an all-wheel-drive powertrain. So, there is a possibility that in the future we get an AWD Safari. However, nothing is confirmed for now. We are also expecting a turbocharged petrol engine with the Safari and the Harrier.
